Wider loads?

Wider loads?  Modify your truck walls first. Found on the internet... modified truck walls allow cargo to hang over the side of the deck or extensions added to make the deck surface wider.

Adapter for Can-Am Spyder on 8' deck!

The factory has just completed tooling up for a special deck extension which will mimic the Can-Am Spyder deck.  We have very little detail, other than it extends the 8' deck and moves the "landing wheels" out 4" wider for easier loading of the 60 +/-" Can Am's.

Priced at $502, this will make a great addition to the 8' deck.  You can add the extension when you wish but not have the extra length sticking out behind your truck until you need it for a specific job.

Photos, dimensions and more detail as soon as they are released from engineering.

For Towing Companies

Why do towing companies prefer the AmeriDeck SuperDeck III?

Major roadside assistance companies (which must remain un-named
) are realizing the liability if trying to transport motorcycles in rollback trucks and are directing their motorcycle towing calls to motorcycle specific towing companies.

Check your contracts with roadside assistance companies and make sure they know that you are equipped with the AmeriDeck SuperDeck III products.  Insist that they recognize you as a safer transporter with less potential for injuries, damaged motorcycles and customer complaints.

For obvious reasons we cannot say which MAJOR roadside companies we have learned this from,
but you can probably find that information with a couple calls to your towing association or roadside assistance service reps.

Make that call today... and if you don't have an AmeriDeck
you need to give us a call so we can get your set up promptly.

Google "motorcycle towing companies" in your metro and see how many are displaying AmeriDeck equipment on their home page.

No trailer required.   One person operation.  No more dropped bikes.

AmeriDeck Midwest is the only dealer in the country with units in stock on the east and west coast.

Which Truck for you?

So you are looking to haul two bikes?  Maybe tow a trailer also??

Be certain to take a look at some numbers about your vehicle.

What are you looking to haul?   Let's say it's an AmeriDeck SuperDeck III (#850) plus two Harley Davidson's (2016 Road Kine = #814)  That's #2,478 before you add luggage and a mother-in-law... or trailer.

Here's an article from AutoTrader that talks about Pickup Payloads <<<

Take a look at the F250 or Chevy 2500 HD and then compare the load carrying and towing
capabilities to the same brands in half-ton trucks.   Half ton is #1,000.  If you are serious about carrying significant cargo, or towing living quarters and bikes, then you need to evaluate things carefully.

Here are some definitions:

GVRW = fully loaded vehicle with fuel, passengers and cargo.  This is the capacity of the truck.

Curb Weight (CW) = The empty seight of the truck.  In the case of my 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Diesel truck, #6693.

GVRW - CW - #9,200 - #6,693 = #3,507 - Well over the requirement for deck and two bikes.

Weighing Terms

Take your loaded truck and trailer to a scale and use these numbers to find out if you are towing more than your truck can handle. To determine the safe towing capacity for your loaded truck, take the GCWR and subtract the curb weight and the weight of everything in your truck, including passengers and cargo. To determine safe payload capacity, take the GVWR and subtract the curb weight of the truck. Because curb weight only considers base options of a truck model, stay below these capacity estimates to be on the safe side
  • Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR): The maximum weight of a truck, including the truck itself, cargo, passengers, fuel, trailer and trailer cargo.
  • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR): The maximum weight of vehicle, including passengers, cargo and tongue weight.
The above info is from HowStuffWorks.com

Note:  Article about excessive weight based on 5th wheel trailers:  https://auto.howstuffworks.com/auto-parts/towing/towing-capacity/information/tongue-weight.htm

We are adding this info after receiving a call from a customer hauling two full dress Harleys and experiencing front-end vibrations at speeds over 70 MPH.  (June 18, 2018)

The next-to-last-thing we want to do is scare you off from buying an AmeriDeck for hauling your motorcycles... but the LAST thing we want to do is to see you in an undersized truck and endangering yourself and your vehicle.

Call us any time to discuss details!

Fitting a longer bike

The AmeriDeck Superdecks come in several sizes.  Given some options, almost any bike/atv/quad should fit on one or our decks.   Here's what we need to know:

Year, Make and model of your truck>  ________________
Short bed or long bed? :  __________

To be certain, measure the length of your truck bed from the bulkhead beind the cab to the end of the flat surface of the bed (L).  :  __________  This will be about 78" on a short-bed truck and 96" on a long bed truck.  Not usually significant, but should be checked, the Bed Height (BH):  _____________

Bike Measurements:

Measure the wheel-base (WB), just for reference info: Axel to axel:  ______________
Measure from the front of the wheel (as if it were up against a wall) to the rear axel (DL).
This tells us how long the surface of the deck needs to be.:  ______________

If your bike has something hanging over the front of the front wheel, like the Can-Am Spyder trunk, you will want to block the wheel back from the bulkhead, or load your bike facing the rear.  This may require that you remove the windshield for wind-damage purposes.  This can allow a shorter deck to handle your bike.  This also is seen in some quads and side-by-sides.

Take two measurements of the wheel width...   Measure between the wheels (BW): _____
and from outside to outside of the wheels (WW):____________

Given this information we can select the proper deck for your needs.

Often the SDIII-Spyder deck is the most convenient for tricycles.  It is longer by 6" than the 8' deck and has the landing wheels spaced wider to accomodate the tricycle stance.

The 18" externsion will fit the short-bed or long-bed decks.
